Terror in Pahalgam: Are We Fighting the Right Battle?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When Silence Was Shattered in Pahalgam

Ever been to a place so peaceful, it feels like nature is doing ASMR just for you? That’s Baisaran in Pahalgam. Or rather, was, until April 22, 2025.

That day started like any other touristy morning—families zip-lining, kids screaming with joy, couples posing for reels. Sab mast chal raha tha. And then—ta-ta-ta-ta—bullets. Panic. Blood. Silence.

26 people gone. Just like that.

“Bro, it felt like a dream… turned full-blown nightmare.”

Rishi Bhatt from Ahmedabad was zip-lining over the meadows with a GoPro strapped on. He caught it all—gunmen running into the crowd and opening fire. He landed, grabbed his family, and ran like hell.

Tourists were the target. Let that sink in.

Not army. Not netas. Aam aadmi. People like you and me who just wanted a break. Gunned down by terrorists calling themselves The Resistance Front.

And the worst part? They were separating people by religion. Kya hi bolu yaar.

The Aftermath: India didn’t hold back

  • 2,000+ people detained
  • Homes of suspects bulldozed
  • Diplomatic ties shaken
  • Even water treaties suspended

Pakistan, of course, gave its usual “hum toh kuch nahi kiye” reply. Seen it before.

So now the question is—what do we do?

We go to Kashmir. Full josh mein.

Book that trip. Sip kahwa. Ride shikaras. Click photos. Flood the valley with life, not fear.

Every tourist is now a message: You didn’t win.

This is how we fight back.

Not with guns. With footsteps, reels, laughter, and chai.

Planning a Trip to Kashmir? 5 Things to Keep in Mind

  1. Stay Updated: Follow official advisories, not WhatsApp forwards.
  2. Register Locally: In some areas, tourists may be asked to check in. Chill, it’s protocol.
  3. Ask Before Exploring: Locals know what’s safe. Trust them.
  4. Keep Emergency Contacts Handy: Police, hotel, hospital—save the numbers.
  5. Respect the Sentiment: Kashmiris are healing too. Be kind.

Final Word:

Terror wants to empty Kashmir. Let’s fill it—with footsteps, photos, and full desi energy.

Kashmir needs us. Let’s show up.
